Opening Isomer for the first time

macOS will say Apple could not verify Isomer is free of malware. That’s because Isomer isn’t notarized by Apple yet, not because anything is wrong.

  1. Drag Isomer into your Applications folder.
  2. Double-click Isomer. When the warning appears, click Done.
  3. Open menu › System Settings › Privacy & Security.
  4. Scroll down to Security. You’ll see Isomer was blocked to protect your Mac. Click Open Anyway.
  5. Enter your Mac password or use Touch ID, then click Open Anyway again.
Drop a file into a box. The converted copy rises back out.

Works with the files already on your Mac

One drag. Three things it can do.

The key you hold while dragging decides what the bar offers.

Convert a copy

Six formats picked for that kind of file. The new file is saved next to the original.

The Isomer bar offering JPG, PNG, PDF, WebP, AVIF and TIFF

Nothing leaves your Mac.

Every conversion runs on your computer. No uploads, no account. If you allow error reports, Isomer sends only what went wrong and your versions, never your files or their names.

Replace the original

The original goes to the Trash only after the new file exists. Put Back restores it.

Tools for that file

Compress, crop, trim, redact, edit metadata and more, without opening another app.

The Isomer tools bar: compress, metadata, edit, annotate, add background, crop, redact

Runs in the background. Uses almost nothing.

Isomer waits quietly in your menu bar until you drag a file. While it waits, it uses none of your Mac's processor, so your battery won't notice it's there.
